Freiberg’s Disease

Originally described in 1914, Freiberg reported on a series of 6 cases with a similar “infarction” pattern of the second metatarsal head. This pattern resulted in flattening and collapse of the head, with subsequent degenerative changes of the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint and ultimate arthritis in the final stages
