Foot Stress Fracture

I had a suspected stress fracture that did not show up in the xray so the doctor sent me for an MRI sacan. This was done just over 3 weeks ago and when I went for the results today they confirmed it was a stress fracture and was pu into an short aircast. I am suprised that I was not notified before my outpatients clinic today that this was the case or are they not classed as that uirgent?
