I have charcot foot in my right foot.The swelling in my foot started back in March of this year.I had a sonogram(sp) done per my doctors advice,to see if a blood clot was present.I lost my job in April along with my insurance.I could not afford my insulin and things got worse.Over a weeks time,in August,my foot suddenly started turning inward.I waited 2 weeks before finally going to the emergency room.They said I had a broken ankle along with charcot foot.They put me on Gabapentin for the neuropothy(sp) and in a plaster cast,along with a walker for non weight bearing on my foot.I followed up with a orthpedic surgeon.She said my foot would be deformed from here on out and put me in another plaster cast,along with non weight bearing instructions.I then went back 3 weeks later and she put me in a Bledsoe boot type walking cast.She told me to wean myself into walking,a little bit at a time.After 3 weeks,I am now able to walk on it fully,cast in place.My ankle,heel,and ball of my foot are still swollen;how long will this swelling be there?My blood sugars have been in check for 2 months now(85-110 readings). :confused:
