I take great pleasure participating in our training program’s journal club, during which our residents and fellows critically appraise a journal article selected by a participant who takes the lead guiding our group through the published report. In this way, the resident or fellow directing the session has the opportunity to refine her/his skills as a group leader and a user of the medical literature. We use a systematic approach to our appraisal of the selected article, with the aim of determining the value of the published information as it relates to our treatment of foot and ankle surgical patients.
